SELF RELIANCE BY JASEN SOUSA
SELF RELIANCE
You said you would be there,
you are nowhere in sight.
When my soul is dark I am
the only one who can shed light.
The rest of the world lives during the day,
I am held hostage by night.
Friends claim they can free me,
but I continue to be a slave. You drive
by the cemetery and do not bother
to visit my grave.
I no longer wish for your guidance.
Alone in every aspect,
striving with self reliance.
