ON THE DAY YOU FINALLY REALIZE


On this day, the tears I shed
could create another great lake.
I think of the time you were with me on my birthday,
and we actually shared some cake.

Shared with you my deepest thoughts,
respected you as a human being.
Looked upon you many times for help,
but could never really see.

Moment after moment, memory after memory,
when you are gone
whose feet will you look upon
while you lie in the cemetery?
