THE LATE FRIEND BY JASEN SOUSA

THE LATE FRIEND

The times I need you,
you never seem to be there.
When you need a favor,
you always appear.
When you experience pain
I am right by your side.
A tragedy in my life occurs,
you look for the closest place to run and hide.

You say you will be there for me,
I find it so amusing.
Friendships are games,
someone is always winning,
and someone is always loosing.

At my funeral, my closest one
will probably end up being a late arrival.
Choosing friends wisely
is necessary for survival.
