The Pacifying Path of the Piano By Jasen Sousa
The Pacifying Path of the Piano
Sun sinks into ground
and darkness carpets streets
when it hears the sound
of my heart’s rhythmic beats.
My vision has disappeared.
I reach out my hands looking for something to touch
as I move my foot forward, I hear it in the air,
I stand still, hush...
White tar on the street starts to move up and down,
I use what I hear to guide me.
In the dark listening to my heart’s sound,
ivory keys being struck inside me.
Sometimes when you can’t see, it’s important to listen.
I’m trying, I can’t see it from where I stand, but I know
it will lead me to find what has always been missing.
I walk across the pacifying path of the piano.
