LOSING A LOVE I NEVER HAD BY JASEN SOUSA
LOSING A LOVE I NEVER HAD
Today I lost a love
I never had.
My spirit and my heart
are simultaneously sad.
I heard rumors
of how you admired me, so I couldn’t help, but think
that you truly desired me.
We never had a title,
but everyone considered us a pair. This was good
because breaking up was never a fear.
I couldn’t help but get nervous
every time I was in your presence. You see me
now and you act like I never
bought you any presents.
For so many months my heart
bared your name, now it is forever engraved,
but I am not here to blame.
I couldn’t help being attracted,
my soul shivers every time I see you
and you pretend like you are distracted.
It hurts so bad to know
my picture no longer floats
around in your mind, perfect vision
for new mates, but to me you are blind.
I walk through life
wondering if I will ever find
a human being that is capable
of making me as glad. All I know
is that it hurts just as much
in losing a love
I never had.
